CLEVELAND, OHIO, October 3, 2023 – Trazer Inc., an innovative leader in movement technology, is excited to host a discussion on intervention strategies presented in the research paper: Computer Assisted Gamification as an Approach to Support Movement Skills for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. TRAZER VP of Elite Sports Performance & Clinical Education, Dr. Randy Cohen will moderate the discussion with the paper’s author Jiyhun Lee, Ph.D. and Marc Sickel, a researcher leveraging technology in his work with children and adults on the autism spectrum.

Participation is free and registration is open at: https://university.trazer.com/webinars-asd

Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on autism cite a significant increase (100+%) in numbers of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD) since 2000.

  • 1 in 36 children in the U.S. have autism, up from the previous rate of 1 in 44.
  • Boys are nearly 4 times more likely to be diagnosed with autism than girls.

“Current treatments for ASD seek to reduce symptoms that interfere with daily functioning and quality of life. ASD affects each person differently, accordingly, people on the autism spectrum have unique strengths and challenges and different needs. Therefore, treatment plans usually involve multiple professionals and are catered toward the individual.”

Challenges for children on the autism spectrum can include posture, coordination and motor planning, and both gross and fine motor delays and/or atypical motor patterns. Physical therapy and interventions as suggested in Dr. Lee’s research, which she will discuss in the webinar, examines some of the approaches clinicians and families take to address challenges. TRAZER has been used with children on the autism spectrum at Fitness for Health to improve movement, function and focus. Marc Sickel will share experiences from his work.
